Polk County tourist attraction Fantasy of Flight will close its doors to the public April 6. The aviation museum located 20 minutes west of Walt Disney World on I-4 will instead focus on hosting private events and using the space to restore old aircraft.
Zonko’s Joke Shop at Hogsmeade will soon be shuttered forever. The retro toy and gag shop is closing as expansion efforts continue at a dizzying pace at Islands of Adventure and sister park Universal Studios. Honeydukes, the candy shop adjacent to Zonko’s, will take over the space and increase its square footage to provide some much-needed elbow room for tourists looking to purchase a Cauldron Cake or a bag of Chocolate Frogs.
But don’t worry. The inventory from Zonko’s will be available at Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes, one of the new shops scheduled to open in Diagon Alley at Universal Studios later this year. Elbow room won’t be a concern at Weasleys’, that’s for sure. It will be three stories high and stocked with all the items a Muggle could want including Decoy Detonators and Nose-Biting Teacups.
There was Internet speculation Zonko’s would close this past weekend. But I paid a visit on Sunday afternoon and found the shop still open for business, and very crowded. One shop employee told me the closure had been delayed, but was unsure for how long. I fired off a few iPhone snaps just in case this was my final time in Zonko’s and posted the gallery below.Photos From Soon-To-Close Zonko’s Joke Shop at Islands of Adventure #themepark #Zonkos #Hogsmeade #HarryPotter Zonko’s Joke Shop at Hogsmeade will soon be shuttered forever.
